My Everlasting Light

As I stood at my bedroom window last night staring at the evening sky, a black cloud drifted across the expanse and virtually extinguished the light of the moon. However, as black and ominous as the cloud was it could not fully shroud all traces of light as moon beams escaped from around the edges. This thought came to mind. No matter how dense and dark the cloud, it does not remove the light. It is still there, covered over with a veil of hurt and suffering, trials and pain, but there nonetheless. And that is where my hope lies. Christ, my source of light, cannot be snuffed out. He may be hidden to my eyes at times, but He remains constant behind the darkness. And He has commanded me to wait patiently with faith and trust that He will once again shine fully before me. My Lord is my Everlasting Light. There is no darkness in the world or below the world or above the world that can douse that light. My day will come when I will stand fully illuminated once again.

I love this, Becky - that sometimes He may seem hidden from our eyes, but His light is still there. He is still there. Like you said, no matter how dark the could, it doesn't remove the Light!

I think sometimes we mistake His 'silence' as His not being present. But He is ever-present in our lives.

Your post was beautifully written.

Just wanted to comment on your love entry. It was completely the other way around for me. I was the one who did the hurting. And I was the one who was the recipient of a husband's purposed love. Don't know if you know my story or not, but to be the one who wasn't given up on is probably the most humbling experience ever.

So don't listen to the 'world' and its contrary-to-Scripture advice. (which I know you won't!) It does not (and cannot) know a Christ-like love.

With the strength and hope that can only come from the Lord, you just continue to persevere, dear Becky.

I bought a telescope a year and a half ago and one of the first things I looked at was the moon. There were clouds in the sky and at one point the moon seemed to disappear behind a cloud when I was looking without the scope. But, through the telescope lenses, the moon was still visible, as if there was no cloud. I thought it was very cool.

In the same way, as you said, Christ may appear to be hidden to our unaided eyes at times, but He remains there and by faith, we still see Him.

Good Evening Becky,

What an awesome post my friend and such a reminder of the awesomeness of God.

That is the midst of the darkness, when things seem cloudied, we can still see and know that He is the source of our life.

He indeed is a constant, someone that we lay hold of and know initmately.

Like you said: "No matter how dark the cloud, it does not remove the light.

Again I stand with you in prayer during this season of your life.

Writing for the king,

Paul

I enjoy looking at the awesomeness of the sky and thinking about how God did it - and does it. Sometimes I look at the sky and observe the interesting pattern of the clouds and wonder if anybody notices the greatness of the creation except me. And I know that other people notice it, but when I look at just a little tiny part of the creation, like one small aspect, such as the clouds in their design at that particular moment, or a single dragonfly or a small flower bud on a bush, I think that God is so great. He made that little detail, that His creation can't really fully behold, and it is similar to the fact that He is so great and His creation can't really behold or grasp all the details of His greatness. He is so much bigger than any person can take in, or that everybody all together can take in. Not only in His creation in the earth, but so many other details He is pulling together in His creative way. When I do something great, I want everybody to see it. How worldly. On the other hand, when we observe the neat things God has created, I think He enjoys us noticing. The problem is, when we try to create something, apart form Him, we can do no good thing. Who can glory in one's flesh? But thankfully, when He works through us, He can accomplish His beauty and demonstrate His divine nature through us. Then He can receieve glory through us. So, anyway, I like looking at the sky. I like to imagine all of the energy in the sun. It is so powerful and provides the energy for the whole world. I like to look at the moon and think how God put the moon up there, and if He can do that, He can take care of me and my problems and He can fulfill all He wants through me. Glad I found your site. Really nice poem and picture. I've tried to do the picture thing, but haven't figured that out yet. I get too impatient. God bless you.

very inspiring, becky. in everything that i'm going through now, my hope is that i will see His light shines through once again. i may not see it now, but it doesn't mean His not there. He also told me to wait patiently.

God bless!

My Lord is my Everlasting Light.

Love this! Interesting how the Word says that someday there will be no need for a sun or a moon. Jesus will be that Light forever.
